Water filtration — this is by far our favorite. This method uses a variety of carbon and/or paper media to remove toxins and minerals from the water. By doing so, you are left with highly filtered water that is clean and safe to drink, bathe, and cook with.
To take it a step further, we have a few products and systems that actually add some minerals back to the water, which raises the pH level for better tasting and healthier water. Lastly, with filtering, we can also ionize the water magnetically, which helps prevent the water from sticking to surfaces and therefore assists with scale buildup. Filtration systems can be used exclusively in a home, or they can be paired with other products for better results.
Softeners
Definitely the type of system we get asked about most often. Softeners are exactly what the name implies — they soften the water. By nature they clean the water to an extent but don't necessarily filter the end product.
Softeners work by using salt to reverse the polarity of the water's molecules, thus making it slick. These systems are the best at preventing scale and corrosion buildup on faucets and fixtures. A softener paired with a filtration system is an excellent all-around product, but not so great as a standalone system.
Reverse osmosis
Finally, we have reverse osmosis. There are whole house systems but they are extremely costly and inefficient. More commonly we will install a small version of this system under the kitchen sink with a dedicated spout, for the most pure version of drinking water. These are fairly inexpensive systems and are great as an upgrade to a whole house filtration system to get pure water.
